EDUCATION
Ms. Jamaica Abare earned her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in 2012 where she was a public interest scholar and received the public interest scholarship from the California State Bar. Before pursuing a career in law she worked in Higher Education, teaching Philosophy at several Universities after receiving a Master’s degree from Claremont Graduate University.
EXPERIENCE
Having a background in Education, Jamaica is passionate about educating her clients and explaining the complexities of the law in a way they can understand. During law school her experience focused on defending Juveniles in criminal court and seeking alternative sentences to incarceration as well as developing pro bono resources for low income Veterans in need of Defense.
Her representation in criminal court has given her the background and experience to understand and defend clients with a criminal history. While the majority of Jamaica’s work is in Immigration court, she also appears in criminal court to reduce and vacate client’s previous criminal convictions.
Jamaica understands the complex process of immigration law and has successfully appealed cases before the Board of Immigration Appeals. Jamaica Is an active member in good standing of the California State bar and member of the Los Angeles Country Bar association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
